Yello!
Today's lesson's gonna be relatively quick, but also kinda awesome, punchy, and informative. How do I know this? Because I already know exactly what I'm going to write!
既に... (rest of sentence)
(Start of sentence)既に... (rest of sentence)
Example:
→ そのことは既に承知しております。
”I am already aware of that.”
In a nutshell, the adverb 既に is a formal, often written, way to say "already". It can come at the start of a sentence, or in the middle. Either way, it has no specific attachment rules and it can also appear in either kanji or kana form!
There's a bit more to it than that, but we'll get into the details when we touch on 〜既に vs 〜もう.
