Picture this. You’re at an ice cream place. Not just any ice cream place, but the kind with all sorts of delicious sugary mix-ins. You gaze out over the options. There are Mars Bars, Smarties, chocolate fudge… mmm. Okay now go ahead and order whatever you want, in Japanese of course. What’s that? You don’t know how to list things yet? Goodness gracious! We’d better rectify that immediately.
Thing 1とThing 2
Example:
→ チョコレートとバニラお願いします。
”I’ll have the chocolate and vanilla please.”
Being able to list things is a crucial part of efficiently communicating your ice cream order (apart from other things), and so I’m going to make sure you’re able to do it with confidence. Simply put と between two or more things, to link them together in a list.
