Hello! We've recently deployed a new update containing some quality-of-life changes to the Wordles and this Changelog page that you are looking at right now.
For the wordle minigames, we've reworked the backend so that we can keep track of which words have already been used and also keep track of when you've failed or succeeded in solving them. Aside from solving the duplicate wordle problem, this will also lead to some cool stats in the future, where you can show off how many days in a row you got it, or have a monthly overview of wordles done.
For the changelog, we've added pagination, to prevent everything from loading in at once. At the top, you can find a new button to load newer entries, whereas if you scroll down, it will load older entries. This should make the page a bit more performant, as our changelog entries were getting to a large amount! (Oh how time flies huh!)
We also have two fun teasers to show you for those who missed in on our Discord:
Wonder what this is about.. 🤔
You'll soon be able to share your profile and stats on things like Discord, Twitter, Forums, and wherever else you'd like! You can customize the way you want it to look (images) and which stats to show or not show on it too.
Speaking of Discord, did you know that if you have a lifetime account, you can get early sneak peeks in our exclusive lifetime channel over at the MM Discord?
Have a lovely Sunday and keep up the studying!
Yet another update just went live
Let's head into the main feature of today's update.
You can now get reminders on your phone or desktop whenever new SRS reviews become available, or a daily reminder to do your lessons.
For review push notifications, you can set a minimum threshold before it will send you a notification (say, at least 10 reviews available).
For your daily lesson reminder, this is set at 10 AM every day, in your selected timezone.
You can enable both options individually on the settings page. If you use multiple devices, be sure to register them all individually.
Note that on Mac, you might need to give your browser explicit permissions to show notifications before they show up.
iOS currently does not support push notifications, but the next OS update (16.4) will likely support it, so soon you will also be able to get MM notifications!
There's also another fun new feature we're introducing today. Perhaps you might've already seen something new in this changelog?
That's right, we've added emojis! 🎉 When you comment on MM you can now type emojis with :nameofemoji: and a small suggestion popup will let you select an emoji to insert into your comment. 🤩
We've also added a few of our own custom emojis (which we will expand upon in the future), all of them starting with maru for the name:
etc
So it's time to get expressive! 😊
Next to this we have a few new other additions and bugfixes:
Billing - There is now a separate page to manage your billing details (e.g. to cancel your subscription, update your payment method or look at your invoice details). You can find it by going to the regular billing page.
Navbar - Added a nice pulse animation for when you have new (on-site) notifications available (like this changelog!).
Study Lists Overview - Changed the progress bar colors of the Study List cards to be green only when the progress is at 100%.
SRS Lessons & Reviews - Entering an answer with certain Keyboards on Android in Firefox will no longer require two or three "enter"/next presses for it to submit.
Here we go again! This time we've got some additional SRS improvements like hotkeys, and audio autoplay in lightning mode, but also things like proper thumbnails when sharing MM links, loading screens for adventure, and a bunch of high-priority bug fixes!
Let's get into it:
SRS Lessons - You can now go back and forth between lessons with the arrow keys (left / right).
SRS Lessons & Reviews - Hotkeys have been implemented! You can now use the following hotkeys (and customize them on the settings page):
Open Suggestions Modal: S
Unblur Spoilers: U
Play Audio: R
Suspend Item: No Default Hotkey
Undo: BACK_SPACE
SRS Lessons (Quiz) & Reviews - Audio now continues playing when moving on to the next item
SRS Lessons (Quiz) & Reviews - Audio will now autoplay when correctly answering a (vocabulary) reading layout with lightning mode enabled. Meaning you will hear the pronunciation after answer submission.
Furigana - Furigana selection has been disabled, which means that copying a sentence will no longer wrongly add the furigana in.
Grammar Lessons & Reading Exercises - Furigana size has been increased a little bit.
Manage Study List Items - The "Level" column is now sortable
Adventure Overworld - Now has a loading screen
Adventure Regions - Now have loading screens
Unregistered users can now view more parts of the MM dashboard, including the adventure pages, excerpts of grammar lessons & reading exercises.
SEO & Sharing link improvements - Sharing a MM link will now have a proper title, description, and a dynamic thumbnail to match whatever you might be linking to (e.g. a Grammar Lesson).
Adventure - The side-menu list will now properly show green checkmarks for all completed items.
MaruMori will no longer redirect you to /locked if you are not logged in
MaruMori will now properly refresh your session in the background, meaning no more random /locked redirects/logouts!
SRS - Now properly ranks items down once if below SRS level 5, twice if level 5 or above when submitting a wrong answer.
SRS Lessons - Hitting ENTER after clicking the next lesson button would result in it skipping a lesson. This has been fixed.
Study Lists - Setting Lessons Per Day to 0 will no longer give 10 lessons the next day.
Small but very fun new update today:
We've got new artwork for the overworld and regions. Namely a new arrow and three new cursor pointers!
"Clickable" cursor:
Default cursor:
"Dragging" cursor
We've also got new level tiles coming along soon, as well as other artwork that we'll tell more about in the future!
Time for another pretty big dev update! This time we focused on a few highly requested smaller features and things that were on our priority to-do lists.
First up, Reorder settings for your SRS Reviews! You can now sort your reviews just the way you like them:
Randomly (default)
Oldest First
Newest First
Lowest Level First
Highest Level First
Meanings Layouts First
Readings Layouts First
Next to that, you can also choose to keep item siblings together! This means you will get all item layouts before moving on to the next review item, letting you quickly finish items. This setting is combinable with the above reorder settings too!
You can access these settings by clicking on the gear button next to the lightning mode button in the top-right during reviews:
Next up are a bunch of new features and improvements:
Study Lists - You can now Remove Study Lists from your account. Just open the Edit Study List modal and click the Delete button to delete it. Easy as pie! Note that you can only remove your personal study lists or premade lists.
Study Lists - Manage Items - This page now also shows your SRS level for each item you learned so far!
Study Lists - Manage Items - This page now shows a loader while data is being grabbed from the server
SRS - Vocabulary - The All Definitions tab now shows detailed extra information next to the definitions, similar to the dictionary pages.
SRS - Vocabulary - Now shows Part Of Speech information on the Primary tab
SRS - Vocabulary - Now shows which kanji are contained in the vocabulary. Click on them to open a new browser tab with their corresponding dictionary entry.
SRS - Vocabulary - Spoiler blur is now off by default for kana-only items (as there is no other layout to spoil).
Main Study List - Fixed incorrect lesson order on some new additions
Main Study List - Resolved an issue with ghost lessons
SRS Reviews & Lessons Quiz - Items with "..." or similar in their meanings are now correctly validated when quizzed.
SRS Reviews & Lessons Quiz - Fixed an issue with being unable to answer with just the value without the parentheses. Meaning answering "mandarin" for "mandarin (citrus fruit)" will now properly work again.
SRS Reviews & Lessons - Lightning mode no longer breaks the ENTER key from advancing through the modals (finished lessons, quiz, next batch, etc).
Study Lists - You can now set a study list to 0 lessons per day again.
Study Lists - You can no longer set negative values for the lessons per day setting.
SRS & other inputs on the website - Sometimes, browsers would suddenly suggest filling in your details in unrelated inputs on the website. This should be fixed now.
SRS Reviews - Fixed an issue where the results screen would show incorrect (visual-only) information if you answered an item wrong in a previous session, then finished the review (correctly) in a new session.
