また (又 in kanji) is an adverb that can mean "again; additionally; as well as", among other meanings.

また's most basic use is as "again".

E.g. また振ふられちゃった...。 "I was dumped again..."

また can be combined with も, providing emphasis to statements, while making them sound more formal. 「もまた」can be seen as the equivalent of "as well" in English.

E.g. あの人ひともまた東京とうきょう出身しゅっしんです。 "That person is from Tokyo as well."

また～(も) can be used to express "additionally; what's more".

E.g. 水野みずのさんは、医者いしゃであり、また小説家しょうせつかでもあります。 "Mr. Mizuno is a doctor, as well as an author."

又また(は) can be used as "or". For this usage, its kanji form is mainly used, but kana is possible too.

E.g. 連絡れんらくはメール、又または電話でんわでお願ねがいします。 "As for contact, please email or phone (us)."
