〜(が)ほしい
To want X
About
欲しい (often written only in kana) is an い-adjective that is used to describe something as "wanted". It is used in a similar way to the verb "to want" in English.
The most common ~ほしい pattern is 「Noun(particle)ほしい」, wherein the particle used is usually が:
E.g. コーヒーがほしい。 "I want coffee."
Because ほしい is an い-adjective, it can be further conjugated as well:
E.g. それがほしかった。 "I wanted that."
ほしい can only describe nouns as wanted, for verbs, (things one wants to do), the たい form should be used instead.
