The noun 間あいだ can be attached to a noun, verb, or adjective and turns it into a time interval. 間あいだ is often translated as "during" or "while".

E.g. 夏なつの間あいだ "during summer"

When (noun/verb/adjective)間あいだ is followed by an event, it expresses that the event takes place within and throughout 間あいだ's time interval.

E.g. 夏なつの間あいだ、日本語にほんごを勉強べんきょうしていた。 "During summer, I studied Japanese."
