Despite/even though
About
のに means "despite/in spite of/even though", and can be used to express that something is unexpected, contradictory, or disappointing. To use のに, simply place it between two clauses. The second clause is the thing that the speaker finds unexpected, contradictory, or disappointing
E.g. XのにY. (Despite X, Y.) Wherein Y is unexpected, contradictory, or disappointing
Sometimes a sentence will end with のに when the second clause is obvious or can be inferred from context.
