～ておく

The auxiliary verb 「おく」 can be combined with a て-form verb to describe that an action is done in preparation (for some future purpose), for the time being, or for someone else's benefit. ～ておく is often translated as "For now/to go ahead and...".
E.g. ここに置いておく。 "I'll go ahead and put this here."
In casual speech, ～ておく is often shortened to ～とく or ～どく.
E.g. ここに置いとく。 "I'll go ahead and put this here."
～ておく and ～てあげる both express an action being done for a recipient, but ～ておく has the proactive nuance of "I'll go ahead and do X for you then", which makes it less direct than ～てあげる's plain "I'll do X for you".
～ておく means that something is done "For now" or "To go ahead and..."
～ておく can be shortened to ～とく or ～どく
