あまり
So... (that)
About
あまり means "excess" or "remainder", and can attach to verbs, nouns, and adjectives. When あまり is used in this way, it modifies the word that comes before it (literally stating that there is an excess of said word) and generally translates to "So X that Y".
E.g. おいしさのあまり、全部食べちゃった。 "It was so delicious that I ate it all."
あまり can be attached directly to a verb, a noun using の, or a な-adjective using な. It can also directly attach to い-adjectives, or attach using the さ・み + の structure.
