〜たものだ

Used to do/would often do (nostalgia/retrospective)

About

~たものだ is a combination of a past casual verb and ものだ. (だ may be modified for politeness or formality to です・である.)

~たものだ is most commonly used to indicate a nostalgic or longing tone.

E.g. ニセコにんでいたときは、毎日まいにちスキーをしたものだ。 "When I lived in Niseko, I would ski every day."

E.g. ちいさいときは、よくあに喧嘩けんかをしたものです。 "When I was young, I would often fight with my older brother."

Depending on the context, ~たものだ can also make statements that are simply retrospective, not nostalgic or longing, in tone.

E.g. まえはよくハイヒールをいてたものだけど、最近さいきんまったいていないよ。 "I used to wear high heels often, but now I don't wear them at all."

~たものだ is almost always paired with a frequency adverb, most commonly 「よく」.
