Okay, so there's bad news and good news. Bad news is that you just learned about how ~ことだ can be used to give advice a few lessons ago, and today, you'll be learning all about ~ものだ... which can also be used to give advice. But here's where the good news comes in: these two aren't nearly as similar as you may think! Let's grammar!
Casual form verb/い-adjective/auxiliary adjectiveもの(だ・です)
な-adjective(な)もの(だ・です)
Example:
→ 子供は親に従うものだ。
”Kids should obey their parents.”
Like こと, もの is a generic noun that means something like "thing" (more on もの vs こと in the following lesson), but when combined with other grammar, or placed at the end of a sentence, it takes on specific meanings.
