adept #37

Introduction

Welcome to this lesson all about~わざと, the "on purpose" marker! This one is important for when you did things on purpose... or not on purpose.

This lesson is mainly about exposure to わざと, rather than grammatical rules, so I'll focus on providing you with a bunch of examples! Ready? Let's rock.

わざと: That was definitely, "on purpose"

構成こうせい

  • b

    わざと(action)

    Example:
    → マイクがわざと間違まちがえたとはおもいません。
”I don't think that Mike made a mistake on purpose.”

わざと is the kinda adverb you need to have in your grammar/vocab toolbox. It lets you say "That was totally an accident", or "That was totally on purpose", minus the sarcasm. All you need to do is put it before whatever action you'd like (sometimes other info sneaks in between, but generally わざと comes before whatever action is done "on purpose").
