どうしても: No matter how you do it

構成こうせい

  • b

    どうしても(rest of sentence)

  • b

    (start of sentence)どうしても(rest of sentence)

  • b

    (Verb)とどうしても(rest of sentence)

    Example:
    どうしても日本語にほんご勉強べんきょうしたいなら、まるもりを使つかえばいいよ。
”If you want to learn Japanese no matter what, you should use MaruMori.”

どうしても is a phrase that is very commonly misunderstood. This is because most resources translate it as "no matter what", which, although not inaccurate, fails to account for the fact that what どうしても means tends to rely entirely upon the context of our sentence.
