~ずに: Without doing X

Introduction

"Without doing X... Without doing X...". Why does this sound familiar?

Oh, that's right! I already taught you how to say this in Japanese.

...

Or did I?

Review: ~ないで

Back in the Fledgeling Forest, you learned how to say "Without doing X" by using a verb's casual negative form, ない, together with the で particle. For example:

0.1

よるはんないでた。

0.2

あきらないでやった。

The ~ないで pattern simply says that something is done "without doing X". But what if I told you, that there's another, more formal way to say this? And what if I told you... that that's what we'll be covering today? 😲✨
