～に基づく: "Based on X"

Introduction

This lesson is based on grammatical facts and stuff, and it's all about saying that something is "based on" something else. This is important because you need to be able to say that all of your beliefs are based upon the teachings of the benevolent and cute Maru.

〜に基もとづく: This lesson is based on... my love for pizza

  Example:
  → 私わたしは、ピザ大戦争だいせんそうでの経験けいけんに基もとづいた本ほんを書かいた。
  "I wrote a book based on my experiences in the Great Pizza War.”

Today's lesson is going to be all about the fantastic verb 「基もとづく」 ("to be grounded on; to be based on; to originate from"). Oh, and the に particle too, haha.
