  Example:
  → 日本食にほんしょくが好すきだって言いっても、ラーメンとか唐揚からあげしか食たべない。
  "Though I say I like Japanese food, I only eat ramen and karaage.”

The 〜と言いっても pattern (most commonly written in kana alone) is all about clarification. We say (or someone else says) something, and then we say "Even though (I/someone) said X, actually Y".
