言うまでもない: It goes without saying!

Introduction

It goes without saying, but this is about to be the best lesson on MaruMori yet. And that's not just because "it goes without saying" is the type of phrase we're looking at today... (Maybe.)

うまでもない: It goes without saying, but this is a title

The うまでもない pattern is made up of 「う + まで + も + ない」, and essentially means something like "there's no need to go so far as to even say X". But since that's a bit clunky, we can simply go with "It goes without saying; needless to day; of course; etc." for a much nicer translation.

In a nutshell, うまでもない is used to provide info to the listener/reader that the speaker feels is obvious/should be obvious (lit. should "go without saying").
