Another grammar lesson??? It can't be... I just finished one. There's no way there's another lesson already!!!
Today's all about saying "No way, José", or just "No way" if you're not talking to someone named José. We'll also be using our new "old" friend, わけ, to do so!
Casual form verb/い-adjectiveわけがない
な-adjective(な・である)わけがない
Noun(の・な・である)わけがない
Example:
→ ビッグフットがお金のことなんて、詳しいわけないじゃん!
"There's no way Bigfoot is knowledgeable about money!”
You remember 「わけ」, right? We used it a few lessons back as an explainer, summarizer, and "Oh, that's why" marker. Well, there are a lot more ways to use わけ, and a very common one is to pair it with the が particle and ない (i.e. the casual negative of ある), to form 「わけがない」!
