This lesson should be mostly a review, as it really only adds a bit of spice to a grammar pattern you learned back in the Depths of Devotion. Let's get into it!
Present tense casual form verbことになっている
~てもいいことになっている
Example:
→ 金曜日は私服を着てもいいことになっている。
"(You) may wear plain clothes on Fridays.”
Back in the Depths of Devotion, you learned all about how we can express decisions using ~にする and ~になる. Hopefully, you remember that ~になる is specifically for decisions made by someone other than the speaker. We also built upon ~になる by adding こと to form ~ことになる, which we can attach to verbs to say that "X action has been decided".
