~ものがある: "There's something X about..."

Introduction

Today, we have another 「もの」 lesson! Hurray!

As usual, もの can be a bit slippery since its base meaning of "thing" doesn't always show up, and when it does, it's often in a not-so-literal way. Let's see what it's getting up to this time...

    Example:
    かれややかなものがあった
    "There was something cold about his gaze.”

日本語にほんご文法ぶんぽう説明せつめい

「〜というかんじがする」、「〜という特徴とくちょうっている」という意味いみ。よく話者わしゃかんじたことをあらわすときに使つかう。
