～手前: "Since/Now that X" + "In front of X"

Welcome to a very different N2 lesson!

This one doesn't really build on previous grammar, and there's only one similar point to deal with, making it a fairly unique piece of grammar for this level. Excited? You should be!

Alright everyone, hold out your hands because it's time for:

〜手前てまえ: Now that('s a cool hat)

  For usage ➀:
  Verb(た・ている・ていた)手前てまえ

  For usage ➁:
  Nounの手前てまえ

  Example:
  → ビッグフットを絶対ぜったいに見みつけると啖呵たんかを切きった手前てまえ、手てぶらで帰かえるわけにはいかない。
  "Since I so strongly declared that I would certainly find Bigfoot, I can't afford to go home empty-handed.”
