Verb stem直す
Example:
→ やり直してください。
”Please do it again, properly.”
I must confess, 〜直す doesn't necessarily have anything to do with physically repairing things. Instead, it expresses that an action is done again, only this time, in a more better way better way. Oops, had to 書き直す that last bit.
If you look at the dictionary definition of 直す, you'll see that in addition to "to repair" it also means "to correct" and "to put right". These are the main meanings we'll be dealing with today.
