Introduction

Welcome! This is an exciting lesson because we'll be applying some of your recently acquired 謙譲語けんじょうご knowledge. Namely, we'll be learning how to make humble requests. Exciting right? Leggo!

Might I be able to humbly receive your favorite meme in the form of a DM?

Structure

  • b

    て form verbいただく
    Example:
    → これをいただけませんか。
”Might I ask you to look at this for me?”

This lesson will entirely revolve around the 謙譲語けんじょうご verb いただく. いただく is written in kana when it follows a て form verb, and usually in kanji after 「nounを」. You may recall that いただく can also mean べる or む, but this lesson will specifically revolve around いただく's use as the 謙譲語けんじょうご version of もらう ("to receive").
