～いただく: Humble Requests

Welcome! This is an exciting lesson because we'll be applying some of your recently acquired 謙譲語けんじょうご knowledge. Namely, we'll be learning how to make humble requests. Exciting right? Leggo!

Structure

  て form verbいただく
  Example:
  → これを見みていただけませんか。
  ”Might I ask you to look at this for me?”

This lesson will entirely revolve around the 謙譲語けんじょうご verb いただく. 頂いただく is written in kana when it follows a て form verb, and usually in kanji after 「nounを」. You may recall that いただく can also mean 食たべる or 飲のむ, but this lesson will specifically revolve around いただく's use as the 謙譲語けんじょうご version of もらう ("to receive").
