Alright, picture this. You’re at the supermarket, shopping for veggies (nice, very healthy!), and you spot an old lady who looks visibly confused. You approach her and ask if you can be of help and she says, “why yes, would you happen to know where the frozen cranberries are?” Much to her surprise, you point her to the correct aisle without a moment’s hesitation. When she asks you how you knew where they were with such confidence, you reply:
“実はこのスーパーで働いたことがあるんです。 (Actually, I used to work here.)”
To which she replies, “What did you say dear?” because she can’t speak Japanese.
