ついに is an adverb derived from 遂 ("end; final"), and means "finally; in the end".
E.g. 三年間練習してきて、ついにこの大会で優勝することができました! "After three years of practice, we finally managed to win this tournament!"
E.g. 英語の勉強は数年頑張ったけど、ついに海外に行くことを諦めた。 "I tried my best to study English for a few years, but in the end, I gave up on going abroad."
