うえで is a formal piece of grammar that links two actions and has two main usages: "upon doing X,... Y", or "while doing X,... Y".

🥨 〜うえで can attach to casual past/present form verbs, or nouns using the の particle.

This entry concerns the "while doing X,... Y" usage:

E.g. 日本語にほんご勉強べんきょうするうえで大切たいせつなことはなんですか。 "What is important when studying Japanese?"

E.g. 留学りゅうがくするうえをつけなくてはいけないことがいくつかあります。 "There are a few things to be careful of when studying abroad."

E.g. 美味おいしいカレーをつくうえのポイントは、野菜やさいおおきくことです。 "When making delicious curry, it's important to cut your vegetables into large peices."
