Although だって often comes at the end of a sentence, it can also be used at the start of a sentence when the speaker wants to provide and emphasize a reason for feeling X.

When だって is used at the start of a sentence, common translations are "'cause", and "but. This usage of だって can often sound childish or whiny.

E.g. だってあしいたいもん。 "But my foot hurts."

E.g. わたしかない。だってわたし元彼もとかれるんでしょ? "I'm not going. ('Cause) my ex boyfriend is gonna be there right?"
