N3

〜ようと思わない

No desire to...

About

~ようとおもわない is a combination of a volitional form verb, the と particle, and the negative form of 思う.

~ようとおもわない is used to express that the speaker "has no desire to do X". It may be used for others, but is generally used for the speaker's own feelings.

E.g. そんなつまらないゲーム、やってみようともおもわないよ。 "I have no desire to play that boring game."

E.g. こうとおもっていなかったけど、そんなにすすめるならってみようかな。 "I wasn't planning on going, but if (you) recommend it that much, I guess I might try and go."

Both the は and も particles may be used following と to further emphasize 「おもわない」.

E.g. ってようとはおもわないけど、もらったらべるよ。 "I wouldn't even think to buy and eat any myself, but if (someone) gives me some, I'll eat them."
