The particle と can be used with the noun おなじ ("same") to express that "X is like Y; X is the same as Y; X is similar to Y".

~とおなじ uses で (the て form of だ) to attach to the rest of the sentence. This forms the ~とおなじで pattern.

~とおなじで attaches to nouns or nominalized verbs/adjectives.

E.g. ちちわたしおなじで、クライミングがきです。 "My dad, like me, also likes climbing."

E.g. シェフをいえぶのおなじで医者いしゃてもらうのもおかねがかかる。 "Similar to having a chef come to your home, it costs money to have a doctor come (to you)."

E.g. スポーツは上手うまくなるまで練習れんしゅう必要ひつようなのおなじで、ぎょうざをつつむのも練習れんしゅうがいります。 "Similar to how it takes practice to become good at sports, you need practice to wrap gyoza."

~とおなじで can also combine with ぐらい to create the 「~とおなじぐらい」pattern, which is used to express "about the same as..."

E.g. 最近さいきんトムはジェリーおなじくらいいそがしい。 "Recently Tom has been about as busy as Jerry."
