The particle と can be used with the noun 同じ ("same") to express that "X is like Y; X is the same as Y; X is similar to Y".
~と同じ uses で (the て form of だ) to attach to the rest of the sentence. This forms the ~と同じで pattern.
~と同じで attaches to nouns or nominalized verbs/adjectives.
E.g. 父も私と同じで、クライミングが好きです。 "My dad, like me, also likes climbing."
E.g. シェフを家に呼ぶのと同じで、医者に来てもらうのもお金がかかる。 "Similar to having a chef come to your home, it costs money to have a doctor come (to you)."
