〜と同じで

About

The particle と can be used with the noun 同おなじ ("same") to express that "X is like Y; X is the same as Y; X is similar to Y".

～と同おなじ uses で (the て form of だ) to attach to the rest of the sentence. This forms the ～と同おなじで pattern.

～と同おなじで attaches to nouns or nominalized verbs/adjectives.

E.g. 父ちちも私わたしと同おなじで、クライミングが好すきです。 "My dad, like me, also likes climbing."

E.g. シェフを家いえに呼よぶのと同おなじで、医者いしゃに来きてもらうのもお金かねがかかる。 "Similar to having a chef come to your home, it costs money to have a doctor come (to you)."

E.g. スポーツは上手うまくなるまで練習れんしゅうが必要ひつようなのと同おなじで、ぎょうざを包つつむのも練習れんしゅうがいります。 "Similar to how it takes practice to become good at sports, you need practice to wrap gyoza."

～と同おなじで can also combine with ぐらい to create the 「～と同おなじぐらい」pattern, which is used to express "about the same as..."

E.g. 最近さいきんトムはジェリーと同おなじくらい忙いそがしい。 "Recently Tom has been about as busy as Jerry."
