About

The と particle and the て form of the verb ちがう can be combined to form the ~とちがって pattern.

~とちがって is used to express "unlike/dissimilar to X...".

~とちがって may be preceded by nouns, or nominalized verbs/adjectives. Usually, verbs/adjectives that come before とちがって are nominalized using の rather than こと.

E.g. わたしはマイクちがってジェットコースターが苦手にがてだ。 "Unlike Mike, I'm not good with rollercoasters."

E.g. いえはたらくのちがって会社かいしゃくのはガソリンだいがかかる。 "Unlike working from home, going to the office costs gas money."
