The と particle and the て form of the verb 違う can be combined to form the ~と違って pattern.
~と違って is used to express "unlike/dissimilar to X...".
~と違って may be preceded by nouns, or nominalized verbs/adjectives. Usually, verbs/adjectives that come before と違って are nominalized using の rather than こと.
E.g. 私はマイクと違ってジェットコースターが苦手だ。 "Unlike Mike, I'm not good with rollercoasters."
E.g. 家で働くのと違って、会社に行くのはガソリン代がかかる。 "Unlike working from home, going to the office costs gas money."
