About

~ことだし ("since; seeing as how") is used to convey an incomplete list of reasons for X.

〜ことだし is light in tone, and is mainly used in casual situations.

E.g. しの準備じゅんびわったことだし今夜こんやはゆっくり映画えいがでもようか。 "Since we've finished preparing to move, should we chill out and watch a movie tonight?"

E.g. 試験しけんちかことだし明日あしたいえ勉強べんきょうするよ。 "Seeing as how (my) test is coming up, I'll study at home tomorrow."

E.g. あの人は有名ゆうめいことだし、すぐスポンサーもつかるとおもう。 "Seeing as how that person is famous and whatnot, I think they'll find sponsors right away."

〜ことだし indicates that there are other, unmentioned reasons as well.

〜ことだし can become 〜ことですし in polite scenarios.
