About

~てほしいもの combines a て form verb, ほしい, and もの, and can be used to create emphatic "want (someone else to) do X" statements.

~てほしいもの statements shouldn't be said directly to the person we want to do X.

E.g. はなしているときぐらい、スマホをてほしいものだ。 "I'd love for them to put their phone down when I'm speaking, at the very least."

E.g. 弁当べんとうばこぐらい自分じぶんあらてほしいものだ。 "I really wish they'd wash their bento box on your own."

~ないでほしいもの and ~てほしくないもの can be used for negative statements.

E.g. E.g. 地盤じばんゆるくなっているので、これ以上いじょうあめつづいてほしくないものです。 "The ground has already loosened, so I really hope it doesn’t keep raining any longer."

E.g. あめっているときに、そとたせないでほしいものですね。 "It'd be really nice for them to not make us wait outside when it's raining, hey.

~てほしいもの is literary in tone, and is most commonly found in casual/polite written dialogue.
