The noun 間 can be attached to a noun, verb, or adjective and turns it into a time interval. 間 is often translated as "during" or "while".
E.g. 夏の間 "during summer"
When (noun/verb/adjective)間 is followed by an event that starts and finishes within the time interval, 間 must be followed by the に particle.
E.g. 夏の間に、ディズニーに行った。 "During summer, I went to Disneyland."
Attach 間 to a noun/verb/adjective to make said noun/verb/adjective into a time interval
間 must be paired with the に particle when an event starts and finishes within its time interval
