While/simultaneously

About

Often translated as "while" in English, ながら connects two clauses and says that one action happens simultaneously with another. ながら attaches to a verb's stem form.

E.g. ポテチをながら、テレビをました。"I watched TV while eating chips."

The verb that ながら attaches to takes "while" in English, and the verb that ながら does not attach to is the "main" verb of the sentence.

Sentences that use ながら must have both actions being performed by the same subject.
