なるべく
As (much) as possible
About
なるべく is an adverb that is used to say that an action is done "as X as possible" or that someone will "do their best to do X".
E.g. なるべくたくさん水を飲むようにしている。 "I'm doing my best to drink a lot of water."
E.g. 今日は息子の誕生日なので、なるべく早く帰りたいです。 "Today is my son's birthday, so I'd like to go home as soon as possible."
なるべく is not necessarily polite, but is sometimes used in polite scenarios. It may also be used in casual speech. (In more formal scenarios 「可能な限り・できる限り」 should be used instead.)
Compared to the similar construct 「できるだけ」, なるべく sounds less firm, and doesn't necessarily indicate that the speaker will do everything in their power to do "X".
