About

~んだって is a combination of the explanatory の (casual form: ん), だ, and って, the casual quote marker.

~んだって is used to emphasize new/surprising/unexpected information, and is most commonly translated as "I heard X", or "apparently X".

~んだって can attach directly to casual form verbs/い-adjectives, or to nouns/な-adjectives using な or じゃない.

E.g. ピザは昨日きのうべたから、べたくないんだって。 "(They) said they ate pizza yesterday so they don't want to eat it."

E.g. あるいてったほうはやんだって。 "I heard it's faster to walk there."

E.g. ゆみのおにいちゃん、すごいイケメンなんだって! "I heard that Yumi's older brother is super handsome!"

~んですって is also possible, and is slightly more polite as well as feminine in tone.

E.g. おとなりさん、はいられたんですって。 "I hear our neighbours had their house broken into."
