About
~最中に is used to say that an action happens "in the middle of" another.
~最中に can follow ている form verbs, or nouns using the の particle.
E.g. 本を読んでいる最中にインターホンが鳴った。 "The doorbell rang while I was in the middle of reading a book."
E.g. 料理の最中に、火から目を離してはいけません。 "You mustn't take your eyes off the stove when you're in the middle of cooking."
~最中だ・です may also come at the end of a phrase or sentence, to indicate that an action is "in the middle of happening".
E.g. ボブさんは、今プレゼンをしている最中です。 "Bob is currently in the middle of a presentation."
~真っ最中 may also be used for further emphasis: "right in the middle of".
E.g. 今計算している真っ最中だから、ちょっと待ってね。 "I'm right in the middle of calculating (that) so wait a sec."
