〜最中に（さいちゅうに）

～最中さいちゅうに is used to say that an action happens "in the middle of" another.

～最中さいちゅうに can follow ている form verbs, or nouns using the の particle.

E.g. 本ほんを読よんでいる最中さいちゅうにインターホンが鳴なった。 "The doorbell rang while I was in the middle of reading a book."

E.g. 料理りょうりの最中さいちゅうに、火ひから目めを離はなしてはいけません。 "You mustn't take your eyes off the stove when you're in the middle of cooking."

～最中さいちゅうだ・です may also come at the end of a phrase or sentence, to indicate that an action is "in the middle of happening".

E.g. ボブさんは、今いまプレゼンをしている最中さいちゅうです。 "Bob is currently in the middle of a presentation."

～真まっ最中さいちゅう may also be used for further emphasis: "right in the middle of".

E.g. 今いま計算けいさんしている真まっ最中さいちゅうだから、ちょっと待まってね。 "I'm right in the middle of calculating (that) so wait a sec."
