~たて

Just done/fresh/new

N3

~たて

Just done/fresh/new

About

て (often written in kana) attaches to a verb's stem form to describe said verb as "just done", "new", or "fresh".

E.g. いまなら唐揚からあげ、たてですよ! "We've got freshly fried karaage (now)!"

Some verbs can't be "fresh", in which case, their ~たて compound indicates that the action/state is "new" instead.

E.g. あのひとはまだ入社にゅうしゃたてなので、色々いろいろとフォローしてあげてくださいね。 "That person is still new so please help them out with stuff."

~たて can sometimes be used interchangeably with ~たばかり, but not with every verb. Usually, ~たて compounds have a tangible result (e.g. "freshly baked bread"; "freshly caught fish").
