〜てすむ
Resolve by way of/X is sufficient
About
The ~て済む pattern is a combination of a て form verb, い-adjective, or noun, and the verb 済む.
~て済む indicates that X is enough/sufficient, that some situation/action is resolved, or that someone "gets by with X".
E.g. 修理してすむなら、新しいのを買わなくていい。 "If you can solve the problem by repairing (it), you don't need to buy a new one."
The particle だけ + で can also be used in between verbs and 済む. For the 「(verb)だけで済む」 pattern, the verb does not have to be in its て form.
E.g. 地震があったけど、少し揺れただけですみました。 "There was an earthquake but we got by with just a little shaking."
い-adjectives attach to 済む with their て form (~くて), and nouns with the て form of だ (で).
E.g. 荷物は先に送ったから、持っていくものは少なくてすむね。 "You sent (some) luggage ahead of time, so you can by with taking a small amount of stuff, hey?"
E.g. ミーティングをすることはありません。メールですみますよ。 "There won't be a meeting. An email is sufficient."
