わりに (割わりに) is an adverb that is used to express "in proportion to X, ... Y!", where "Y" is something unexpected, or disappointing.

わりに may attach to casual form verbs/い-adjectives, な-adjectives using な, and nouns using の.

E.g. あの選手せんしゅは、負まけたわりに、全然ぜんぜん悔くやしそうじゃなかった。 "Considering they lost, that athlete didn't look upset at all."

E.g. このりんご、安やすかったわりには甘あまくておいしいね。 "Considering the low price, this apple is sweet and delicious."

E.g. あそこのレストランは、有名ゆうめいなわりにあまりおいしくない。 "Although that restaurant is famous, it's not that good."

E.g. 祖母そぼは歳としの割わりにはとても若わかく見みえます。 "For her age, my grandmother looks very young."

わりには may be used to further emphasize the following unexpected/disappointing info.

わりに・わりと may also be used as an adverb meaning "relatively; quite", wherein they modify the following word/phrase.

E.g. わりと面白おもしろかったよ。 "It was quite interesting."

E.g. 新車しんしゃをわりに安やすく買かえた。 "We bought a new car for a relatively low price."
