～ばかりだ is a combination of the ばかり and だ particles.

～ばかりだ is used following verbs, and indicates that an action "continues to happen".

E.g. 薬くすりを飲のんでいるのに、症状しょうじょうは悪わるくなるばかりだ。 "Even though I'm taking medicine, my symptoms just keep getting worse."

～ばかりだ is most commonly used in negative contexts, but may occasionally be used with "static", neutral verbs.

E.g. 部屋へやの掃除そうじは終おわったし、あとはピザが焼やけるのを待まつばかりだ。 "I've finished cleaning the room as well, so all I can do now is wait for the pizza to finish cooking."
