About
まったく (全く in kanji) is an adverb that means "really; entirely". When まったく is paired with a negative verb/adjective to form the まったく~ない pattern, it means "absolutely not X" or "X isn't Y at all".
E.g. マイクは野菜をまったく食べないな。 "Mike doesn't eat veggies at all."
When not paired with a negative verb/adjective, まったく can be used as "Good grief", or "Exactly".
E.g. まったく! "Good grief!"
E.g. まったくその通りだ。 "That's exactly right."
