~て

The means/manner of an action

N4

~て

The means/manner of an action

About

A て form verb can be attached directly to another verb to describe the way in which the second verb was performed.

E.g. いそいでべる "to eat quickly"

E.g. あるいてかえる "to walk home" (lit. "to go home by walking")

This usage of て form is similar to the way the で particle can be used to describe the means or method of an action.

Because this usage of the て form looks identical to the "linking" function, context and/or analysis of the て form verb is required to distinguish between the two usages.
