Introduction

Read this lesson! Pay attention! Stop blowing your nose! I don't care if it's hay fever season!

Commands are important, especially if you're a drill sergeant or an aspiring game show host. Today we're going to cover how to give commands in Japanese! So pay attention! AAAH!

Imperatives part one: a familiar friend

For your introduction to being bossy making commands in Japanese, we'll be using an old friend: て-form. You should be pretty familiar with て-form by now, but if you need a refresher, feel free to head back to Elementary (N5) lesson #57 "て Form For Verbs" and review your conjugations before moving on.

Once you're all good with て-form, it's super easy. Just conjugate a verb into its て-form and use it to end your sentence to make a command or request. That's it!
