に
Locational/target marker
に is a particle with many uses. When used as a location or "target" marker, it marks the destination or "target" of an action. This means that we can mark a noun as the target of an action by simply attaching に to it.
When the noun に attaches to is a destination, the action should be a verb of motion such as 行く, 来る, or 戻る.
When used in combination with the verbs ある and いる, に marks the location of something's existence.
When used to mark the general "target" of a given verb, に marks where something is put, or where there is a point of contact.
