たり~たり
Do things like X and Y
About
The たり form of verbs can be used to create an inexhaustive list of actions, implying that more, un-listed actions were also performed. This is in contrast to listing actions with て form, which forms an exhaustive list.
To form the たり form of a verb, simply conjugate it into the た form, and add り.
Dictionary Form → | た Form → | たり Form |
---|---|---|
食べる | 食べた | 食べたり |
飲む | 飲んだ | 飲んだり |
You can link two or more たり form verbs together in one sentence. The final たり form verb should be followed by する to complete the pattern.
