N3

とすると

If that was the case/assuming

About

~とすると is a combination of the と quotation marker, the verb する, and the conditional marker と.

~とすると is used to create "If X then Y" statements based on some objective info, like data, or statistics. These contain logical, obvious conclusions, rather than the speaker's opinion or subjective statements.

E.g. 時給じきゅう2000えんで8時間じかんはたらとすると、1にちで16000えんもらえる。 "If you were to work eight hours at 2000 yen per hour, you could make 16,000 yen in one day."

It is also possible to start a sentence using とすると. This connects the following statement to something that was previously said, or some recently discovered information.

E.g. とするとホテル到着とうちゃく真夜中まよなかぎますね。 "That means we'll be arriving at the hotel past midnight."
