ように attaches to a casual verb and expresses that something is done "In order to" achieve a certain goal or outcome. The pattern 「Result XようにY」 can be used to express that action "Y" is done in order to achieve "Result X".
E.g. 試験に合格できるように勉強します。
"I'll study in order to (be able to) pass the test."
Often, ように follows a potential form or negative casual form verb. The 「(negative casual verb) + ように」combo is used to express that "Y is done so that X doesn't happen", while 「(potential form verb) + ように」 is used to express "Y is done to be able to do X".
