N2

〜抜く(ぬく)

To do something from beginning to end/completely/extremely

About

The 「(verb stem)く」 pattern employs the verb く ("to do to the end; to do thoroughly") to express that someone "does their best to do X until the end", or that they "do X thoroughly".

く is often used when someone overcomes hardships or completes a difficult action. It can also be used to emphasize the extent to which someone does a given action, similarly to adverbs like 「とても」, 「しっかり」, and 「すっかり」. This will ultimately come down to the surrounding context and which verb く is paired with.

E.g. ペンギンのあかちゃんは、おやペンギンのあしうえさむふゆのです。 "Baby penguins endure the winter on their parent's feet."

E.g. チームマルモリは、相手あいてはげしいめにえ、最後さいごまで1点差いってんさまもいた。 "Team MaruMori endured their opponent's severe attacks, and held the one-point difference until the end."

E.g. きみにこのミッションを最後さいごまでやり覚悟かくごはあるか。 "Are you prepared to see this mission through to the end?"

く may be used in casual and polite spoken settings, as well as in written speech.
