The を particle can be used in conjunction with verbs that involve “motion”, and these verbs can further be divided into three categories: verbs of "leaving" (e.g. 出でる), "passage" (e.g. 通とおる), and "direction" (e.g. 向むく).

When dealing with verbs of motion, を can mark an intransitive verb.

E.g. 坂さかを登のぼる。
"To climb a hill."

When contrasted with the particle で, を refers much more to a specific route or path, rather than で which describes where a verb takes place much more generally.
